Learning outcomes

Below are the learning outcomes of this course, as copied from its evaluation. The course is learner-centered (why?), hence the pace is determined be the learners (i.e. not by the clock).

  • I am comfortable using the documentation of my HPC center
  • I can log in to my favorite HPC cluster using a web browser
  • I can log in to my favorite HPC cluster using SSH
  • I can log in to my favorite HPC cluster using a remote desktop client
  • I can transfer data using scp
  • I can transfer data using FileZilla
  • (optional) I can transfer data using rsync
  • (optional) I can transfer data using sftp
  • (optional) I can compress and archive files before transferring
  • (optional) I can transfer files between clusters

Non-goals:

  • Practice using a Linux file system
  • Practice using Bash
  • Practice writing scripts
  • Practice submitting jobs
