Reflection

There were 28 learners. My session started 8 minutes later, due to the previous one ending later. I had an enjoyable time with the learners.

At the start the cameras were off, as the previous session was recorded. Gradually, the faces started appearing, especially during the first Prior.

The clumsiest was the distribution of learners into the breakout rooms: I moved the solo learners by hand, where they could also do that themselves. Next time, use voice to give them a room number, so they can go there themselves :-)

The session on regular expressions took more than the (reduced) time: would the time not have been reduced, it would have fit neatly.

The grep exercises felt distant from the sed one. There was no time to harmonize them more.

  • [ ] Let the grep exercises work on Macbeth (or something else) too

The sed part can do without the delete functionality: the same can be achieved with head and tail already, and it is not really where sed shines (anymore). Also, the sed exercise was too big: I expect some complaints about it in the evaluations.

  • [x] Remove ‘Deleting’ from the sed part. Regarding the copyright: either give the solution with sed or using head and tail.

I am unsure about using Macbeth. Instead, I could use another familiar text, such as ‘Jingle Bells’ or so… on the other hand, the learners did have to use grep to check the sed results, as the full text was too big.

  • [ ] Consider using a shorter text, or keeping it that long on purpose

There were around 7 learners that wanted to work alone and around 10 in duos (I know the numbers do not add up, I do not know why they don’t). It seems the dual room size approach is appreciated.
